I hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent mine with my boyfriend and it was OK. Yes, just OK. I've been doing a lot of thinking about my relationship with my boyfriend lately. We've been seeing each other for almost 2 years now, but I know that the relationship is never going to progress further than it is now. See, he doesn't believe in marriage. So, I know that we'll never be getting married, and while I thought I was OK with that, I really don't know if I am or not. While I have a 15-year-old son, I've never been married. My son's father and I were engaged, but didn't make it as far as the altar. So, I have always dreamed of meeting the right guy and getting married, as most women do. So, I'm finally with a great guy, but he doesn't want to get married. Sigh. And since he lost his job last July, he's been in a perpetual grumpy funk. He's negative all the time, doesn't really want to do anything, and we're just in a rut. I love him, don't get me wrong, and I know he really does love me. I'm just not as happy with him as I used to be. But, on the other hand, I can't imagine not being with him. I really don't know what to do. Any advice??

This and that

Well, the meeting between my son and his father and stepmother went well. I was shaking, I was so nervous, but my son was cool and collected. We met them and went out to eat, and talked and took pictures. I can see how much my ex has changed and that's a good thing, and his wife is just as sweet as she can be. In fact, my son ended up spending a few days with them this past weekend and met his half-brother, which thrilled him to death. I was nervous about that, too, but he had a good time. I'm glad, but I'm also glad he's home. Well, in other news, this was Valentine's Day weekend, and I hope everyone had a great one. My boyfriend, who usually doesn't believe in Valentine's Day, surprised me with roses, steaks and wine. I was shocked! I got him a CD he's been wanting called "Liquid Tension Experiment" which is by some of the members of Dream Theater and bassist Tony Levin. He was thrilled with it, which made me happy. If you don't know the band Dream Theater, I suggest you check them out, they are awesome! And they sound great live, too. We went to see them last year in Atlanta and they rocked!! Speaking of my boyfriend, he's thinking of starting his own blog, so if and when he does I will post a link here. That's all for now. Hope to post again soon.

A little bit older, a little bit wiser

Well, yesterday was my birthday. I'm a whopping 36 now! LOL Four more years to 40. *sigh* But hey, they say life begins at 40, right? Anyway, it turned out to be an "interesting" birthday. As I've said, I'm a single mom of a 15-year-old son. I haven't seen his father since I was four months pregnant. Well, yesterday I get a phone call from my son's stepmother--his father's wife!! I was shocked, to say the least. But, she was very nice and we talked for a long time. It seems my ex has changed a great deal. (In other words, he finally grew up. We were just kids, really, when I got pregnant.) Anyway, he regrets not being there all this time and wants to develop a relationship with my son. So, my son called him last night and they talked for a while. And we're all going to meet up on Sunday and he's going to see his father for the first time. I feel in my heart that this is the right thing to do, I guess everyone deserves a second chance. I'm just so nervous about it. I don't know what it's going to be like for me to see my ex again. I mean, it's been a loooonnnggg time. It's not just a hobby, it's a way of life with me. I can't imagine not using coupons when I shop. I started my coupon addiction in 2002 when I was trying to save money to take my family to Walt Disney World. (And we ended up going in 2003 and 2004.) But, once I found out how fun it is, and how much money you can save, I went all-out. I really had no idea that with coupons (especially with places that double coupons) you can sometimes get things for pennies or better yet, for FREE!! I have no idea how many coupons I have, but I have a huge three-ring binder with plastic baseball card sleeves that I keep them in. But how do you find the deals, you may ask? I use the absolute BEST coupon website on the Internet, RefundCents. For a small subscription fee, you can get online access AND a cool print magazine that shows other coupon queens in all their glory. This weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they are offering a FREE PREVIEW to celebrate one of our own being on ABC's WifeSwap Friday night. Simply go the website and enter "wifeswap" as the username and password. After checking it out, if you would like to subscribe, please use this link-http://refundcents.com/index.asp?RefID=6PL0 as I will get credit for it. I encourage everyone, especially in this economy, to take full advantage of the savings you can get by using coupons. Well, I'm off to clip and file!

Yes, I'm a "sweeper"

Well, I haven't posted in a while, but I'm going to try and keep this more updated. Today I want to tell you about one of my passions, "sweeping". I love entering online sweepstakes. I would also enter "snail mail" sweepstakes, but right now I really can't afford the postage. The site that I use and absolutely love to enter my tons of sweepstakes is Online Sweepstakes. You can become a free member or a premium member for $30.00 a year. And trust me, the premium membership is worth it because you can enter many more sweeps than you can as a free member. I've been at it for a little over a year, and while I'm still waiting on that "big" win, I have won things such as an Ipod Shuffle and a Best Buy $500 gift card! There are also great forums there where you can talk to other members and the site administrator, Brent, does a great job keeping the site up-to-date. So if you love sweeps too, check it out. And look me up and say hello. My username on OLS is songbird123.

Beliefs

I know I may get slammed for this, but I'm going to take a few minutes to talk about what I believe. While I do believe in God, I don't neccesarily believe that everything in the Bible is true. And I also have a problem with organized religion. All the religions (and even denominations) say that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Well, how can they know for sure? I also believe in gay rights, reincarnation and other things that many religions don't. I usually call myself a "spiritual mutt," as I believe a little of this and a little of that. However, there is one author that I have read where a lot of what she writes rings true with me and that person is Sylvia Browne. I know a lot of people don't like her, but I do. And before you judge her, you should at least read one or two of her books. I've read most of them. The first one to start with, that I recommend, is "Adventures of a Psychic," which tells all about her life.

The other two which are favorites of mine are "Life on the Other Side" and "The Other Side and Back" which discuss in fascinating detail the "Other Side" which is what many of us call Heaven.

So, those are some of my beliefs. A Disney addict, that is! I absolutely love Disney, especially Mickey Mouse! And most of all, I love Walt Disney World in Florida. It is simply wonderful. I didn't have the opportunity to go when I was a child, so I wanted to make sure that my son did before he was "too old" to really enjoy the magic of it. (Actually, for some of us you're never too old. LOL) We went to Disney World for the first time when he was 10 and I was 30. And let me tell you, it was a truly magical experience. When we drove through those main gates that said "Walt Disney World," I cried. Yep, a misty-eyed adult finally getting to that place she had always dreamed of. And my son and my mother loved it, too. So much so, that we went back the next year! Unfortunately, we haven't been able to go back since then, but I keep hoping that someday we will. So, if any of you have the money to be able to take a magical vacation, I highly recommend Walt Disney World in Florida. And while planning your trip, may I also recommend two great books-"The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" is chock-full of any information you might need, such as hotels, dining, lots of information on all of the parks, rides, just everything. Also, "Passporter's Walt Disney World" is equally awesome with lots of information, maps to the parks, and places where you can keep a journal of your trip. It even has pouches for keeping tickets, brochures, etc. Hey, even if you're only considering going, these are great books to have.

Well, that's all for now. I'm relatively new to blogging, but hey, I'm glad to be here. Hopefully this site will be entertaining and informative to you, the reader. So, a little about me. I'm a 35-year-old single mom of a wonderful teenage son. I love couponing, entering online sweepstakes, tornadoes, reading, and of course, I am addicted to the Internet. LOL So, that's about all for now. I will try to post again later.
